Stephanie + Kris at the LaBelle Winery in Amherst, NH

Stop  and think of all the things that lead up to a wedding day – not the things that have been planned to go on the reception tables or the flowers, cake or food – but the commitments of the heart and the laughter and grace that hold two people together. It is no wonder that a wedding day is filled with so many wonderful (and often wise) words, intense emotion and sometimes hilarity. This is the story of one couple – like no other – with an individual and shared past that has led up to this one uniquely wonderful carved out day. Am I being too dramatic…too flowery? I don’t think so. One might think that we grow tired of going through the “routine” of a wedding day, but we don’t. We seriously don’t. We have often said in our posts that each wedding is different. Though weddings may have similarities, no two has the same story. These stories need to be preserved. They deserve to be honored by being filmed properly. This goes beyond just having the pleasure of sharing a cool film clip with friends on facebook. Everyone (at some point in their marriage) needs to be reminded of how it was at the beginning – when they first took that grand committment. To remember the wise words, sentiment, and fun and then to pass that on to their lineage. We are passionate about this. One should seriously pause and reconsider before dismissing “video” as a “luxury” they can’t afford, or something that they will “never watch beyond once or twice”. In fact, Stephanie told us that she had to put a cap on how much she watched this highlights because it was ruining her makeup; lol. Check out Kris and Sephanie’s business that they run together – Northeast Detailing! How does the saying go? A couple that runs a business together – stays together? 🙂

Ashley + Ryan’s Cape Cod Wedding

This was a fun one to edit. It brought us back to a day that was truly kissed with God’s blessing. Sunshine filled every aspect of the daytime activities. The Wychmere Beach Club is the ideal place for getting ready to get married. Every room is filled with windows that let the natural light in, our favorite. Wychmere also has a window filled reception room. This has got to be the most beautiful indoor reception area we have ever seen. They have a lovely deck where Cocktail hour takes place, which enabled us to get all of the clips you see of the room, the table and the centerpieces. When planning a wedding, this is another great thing to check into. Many, but not all wedding venues have a different area for guests to be in for cocktail hour. If they don’t, your cinematographer and photographer may not have the chance to get all of the shots of all of the amazing things you have planned for your tables, and the room. Once guests’ glasses, cameras, purses and coats start going down certain shot opportunities are lost.

Ashley and Ryan have a uniquely precious story. They met when they began school together at the age of 5, and now look at them! The family has watched God bring them together – being at the core of their relationship. We loved getting to know the two of them and their family. The whole day was what a wedding should be at it’s core. Congratulations Ryan and Ashley and thank you for letting us tell your story. We are so glad to have added you to the Hindsight family!

Here’s this wedding’s list of professionals we would recommend:

Reception Venue/Caterer: (as mentioned above) Wychmere Beach Club – Heather (the coordinator) was a peach! She gave us a quick tour, and this place has so much to offer. You could have your entire wedding day in this one place!

Photographer: Sarah Schulte (Sarah & her 2nd shooter, Maura were fantastic to work with.)

Hair/Makeup: Tada Makeup (VERY nice! Great at her job.)

Florist: New England Gardens

DJ: Danny Walsh (Great personality!)

Cake: The Chocolate Rose (Simple meets lovely)

Jeweler: (Groom’s Ring) Zales

Jessie + James at the Union Bluff Hotel

James worked with Jessie before they dated. He was so impressed with her character, that she was the measuring rod by which he assessed anyone he went on a date with. Wow! There is no higher compliment a man could give a woman. It goes without saying, and is clear in the highlights (and even more so in their full-length film) how much James appreciates what he has in Jessie. When they knew that they were meant to be, he didn’t waste any time asking her to marry him. Being a part of their day – full of smiles, laughter, sunshine and the ocean was a treat and an honor for the two of us. Thank you Jessie and James for trusting us to tell your beautiful story.

It’s kind of a treat to work so close to home, and the Union Bluff Hotel is a great place to have a wedding. Here are the professionals we would recommend from this wedding  day.

Photographer: Suzanne & Dan Plumpton of Artifact Images

Hair/Makeup: Euphoria

Florist: Brenda’s Bloomers

Cake: Chickadee Hill Cakes

Jeweler (and earrings): Zales

Lauren + Robert at Lake Opechee Inn

We just love these two. They were so funny and sweet with each other, and we are in LOVE with the way their clip turned out. Since they had actually already gotten married in Jamaica, this day was all about getting ready, and celebrating with their loved ones. We had fun with them outside for a bit and even had time to sit them down while their guests ate to interview them about how they met. We are so glad that we did, because their personality really came out as they shared some great stories with us. Interviewing is not something we typically do with our couples (though we have before). Often there just isn’t the time. Normally, we see someone’s story being told through the toasts. These two are loved SO MUCH by those that attended, and gratitude dominated that time during this particular reception, so we are excited to have obtained some quality stuff from the two of them personally. Their day was spent at the Lake Opechee Inn in the Lakes Region We enjoyed working with our photography friends Matt and Sarah Yeaton. We will always look back on this day fondly. Hugs you two!!!

Danielle + Adam

Danielle’s close relationship with her parents was obvious to us within the first 30 minutes of arriving to film the day. It was clear by the way her Mom looked at her, and the way her Dad could not get through first seeing his daughter in her wedding dress without stopping to recompose himself (as best as he could). The whole family has a beautiful bond and committment to one another, that we were fortunate to see twice in one year. Danielle’s sister Renee also had her wedding filmed by us, so keep an eye out for that one when we post it. Danielle’s Uncle from Missouri, who could not be at the wedding, had a pre-recorded message to all of the guests, which the DJ played. He introduced the families’ special traditional song (That’s Amore) the family always sings at such special events. We see them singing it in this highlights, as a matter of fact. Thank you to the family for allowing us to share in your day, and give it back to you.

This breathtaking ceremony took place at the Abbey Church at St. Anselm College.

Christine + Brooke – A teaser trailer

They say that laughter is an important ingredient to a happy marriage. We have found this to be true, and seeing so much easy-going laughter between Christine and Brooke, these two seem to have plenty of this basic element to last them a lifetime. They just “get” each other. At the end of the day, isn’t that what we all want?

I’ll be honest, sometimes when we are hired to film a wedding, either the Bride or the Groom isn’t initially thrilled that we are going to be there. This was the case with Brooke. He didn’t like that Christine had brought us on. He wasn’t “on board” with having video for his wedding, but he went along with it since she really wanted it. Once we arrived, however, Brooke quickly became comfortable with our presence. In fact, he was so glad we were there to capture the pleasant memories they were making and being creative about how that was to be done. By the end of the day, having felt that we were unobtrusive and personable he had nothing but compliments for us.

As far as the location, the York Harbor Reading Room is such a great place to have a wedding! The staff warmly welcomed us, showed us around and made sure that we had all the information we would need. Located right on the Atlantic Ocean, we really enjoyed filming at this unique Maine venue. We tried out a new filming tecnique that day inside the reception room that we are pleased with. I would have to say, though, that the releasing of lanterns was our favorite memory from this day. Our off-camera light (we never use on-cam. lights) came in VERY handy when the Bride, Groom and their guests took an incredibly long walk along a cliff in the dark to get to the beach where the lighting and releasing would take place. The way the light of the lanters lit up everyone’s faces was great, and as you can see in the closing shot of this trailer, the design they created in the sky was exquisite.

Special thanks to Patrick McNamara (the photographer that Christine and Brooke had hired) for recommending us to the two of them. We always enjoy working with Patrick. His calm professionalism puts even the most anxious bride at ease (not that this was Christine’s state), and his photographs speak for themselves! Click on the link below to see his work. We also want to thank Ron Risman for filling in for Nikki so that she could travel to Indiana to see her Niece graduate. Summertime events like these are often a casualty of our busy wedding schedule.

Sarah + Ryan at The Wolfeboro Inn Teaser

We enjoy filming at the Wolfeboro Inn. This is a lovely location set in charming downtown Wolfeboro. People who have not been there may not realize what beautiful shots can be had withing a relatively small space – as it is right on Lake Winnipesaukee. Nicole, the Inn’s wedding coordinator, noticeably went above and beyond her title. Communicating before the big day, after the day, and making sure that we had what we needed to do our job well on the day. The Wolfeboro Inn is one of those venues that “gets” that a successful wedding is when all parts of the team work in harmony. In fact, everyone we worked with that day was fantastic! We have put links below in case anyone is shopping around for professionals. 🙂

This was one of the weddings where the father’s toast really stood out to us. Toasts really say a lot about who the individuals are who are getting married, and what they are like together. As much as we enjoy hearing a good toast, we appreciate how much the family (those who were present, who couldn’t make it, and those who are not yet born) will benefit from being able to hear all of the sentiment, hilarity and rich stories that were shared – again and again. We are thrilled to be a part of the wedding film industry that can make this experience a reality. We want to thank our friend and fellow cinematographer Meg Simone for recommending us to Sarah and Ryan and their family. Meg had filmed Sarah’s sister’s wedding but was booked for Sarah’s date. Sarah and Ryan – thank you for letting us be a part of your day. We enjoyed re-living it through the edit. Many blessings to you both. We look forward to watching your family grow!   -Bryan and Nikki

Jessica + Edward at Willowdale Estate

This is one of our ‘Short Features’ (about twice as long as a typical highlights film). Our clients, like Jessica and Edward, choose this when a highlights is just not long enough – yet it is still short enough to share online with friends and family. We believe that the friends and family that show up to a wedding are just as important to the film as the bride and groom are. Some of Jessica and Eddie’s family and friends traveled a very long way to participate in their big day; Edward is from Ireland. When we filmed their wedding, we were looking for every opportunity to incorporate the reactions of these special people to as much of the day as possible. This is a standard we bring to every wedding we film. When shopping for someone to film their wedding – this is one thing that a bride and groom should be looking for as they watch the work of every wedding film professional they consider.

Filming at Willowdale makes a wedding easy to shoot. Not only is this historic mansion gorgeously castle-like, but the staff makes the whole day flow by in an easy, relaxing, and efficient way for all involved. They treat everyone, including every other professional brought in like family. So, yes, we can recommend booking a wedding there with confidence.  Below is a list of the other professionals that were a part of making this wedding a success.

Wedding Photographer: Lisa Rigby – Lisa does a great job and has the confidence to shoot by herself; she is so easy to work with and really seems to understand our role in the day, not just her own. She is relaxed, cheerful, and gives her couples helpful direction when necessary.

Hair & Makeup: Sundara Salon

Florist: Flowers by Petros

DJ: Chris Paul

Cake: Frederick’s Pastries

Jeweler: Roman Jewelers

Charlie + Maggie at The Mansion on Turner Hill

“I wondered on occasion about the man who would meet us on the end of that walk.”

Speaking as a father of two young daughters myself, these words really resonated with me that day because that very thing crosses my mind as well. The gravity of THAT moment is a powerful force and I’m particularly sensitive to it when I witness it, especially when the closeness of father and daughter is as palpable as it was between Maggie and her dad. Nikki and I are so blessed to be able to not only witness this, and moments like them, but to know they’ll be preserved forever. This was our first time filming at The Mansion on Turner Hill and both of us were immediately overwhelmed by the beauty of this location. We hope this film reflects how the beauty of the location and the love Maggie and Charlie shared were a perfect match. Thanks for watching! Enjoy!

Bryan + Nikki 🙂

Professionals:

Jason + Mer : Rivermill at Dover Landing

We are very excited to be sharing a few of the many amazing moments that made up Jason and Mer’s wedding day. From the moment we arrived, the excitement in the air was palatable. It was so cool to be able to setup a 1st look with Mer’s dad. Nikki and I had so much fun all day long. Rivermill is an incredible location and provided the perfect backdrop for everything that followed. Thank you, Jason and Mer, for having us along. Every wedding we film is unique and we always feel very lucky to be able to help couples see their day from so many perspectives they can’t. Imagine all that planning, being the center of attention, and now you get the opportunity to see it all from your guests perspective. What a gift you give yourselves, your marriage and future generations getting to see how it all began. Thanks for watching!

Bryan + Nikki 🙂
