Meghan + Collin Highlights Film

We’re really excited to share Meghan and Collin’s highlight film. We are particularly touched by how it came to be that we were able to document such and incredible event. As you may or may not know, professional video is not a priority for most weddings. For a few , it’s the preconception that a wedding film is necessarily boring and won’t get watched but once or twice. For many, the budget gets swallowed up before a video is even considered. Whatever the case may be, we pretty consistently hear that it was the biggest regret for those that didn’t get one. Enter Meghan and Collin’s bridal party. Benjy and Katie, having had us film their wedding, were (together with the rest of the bridal party) inspired to give a hindsight wedding film as a gift to them. We are humbled and amazed by the powerful testimony this is for what we do. We can’t even imagine how valuable the reminder of this day will be for their marriage decades from now. Great idea. Great couple. Thanks for watching! Please share with anyone you know who doesn’t have a wedding film on their checklist.

Here are some of the professionals who made magic as well:

  • Cake: Sister of groom, Rachel Kilpatrick (this cake was simple and beautiful; good job Rachel!)

Kris & Gina

Normally, when we post a highlights or short film, we share our thoughts about the wedding, the couple or some element related to filming a wedding. This time, we aren’t going to do that. We are going to share the feedback that we got from Kris, the Groom, himself. We often hear wonderful feedback from our couples after showing them the finished film. We should be better at sharing those (on facebook at least), I suppose. This one, though stood out from the others a little bit. Here is what Kris had to say after he saw this highlights:

“Bryan, I can’t express my thanks enough! I just got out of work and watched the highlight video before I started driving home… It actually brought a tear to my eye! Just to explain why that’s such a big deal, I didn’t even cry when my mother passed away. Initially, I was strongly against having a video, because I saw it as a useless format of wedding history… key word being was! After watching how much time, effort, and feeling went into these videos, I will never again think of not using a videographer for something special, especially a wedding!! You’ve more than exceeded our expectations! If there is ever anyone who is on the fence about spending the money, give them my contact information and I’ll talk to them myself! I will be recommending you to anyone and everyone I possibly can! I truly do appreciate everything you guys did for us at our wedding. Our photographer screwed up a vast majority of the photos (not sure if Gina had mentioned that to you or not). We were basically relying on the video footage you guys had for us.”   -Kristopher

We were thrilled to give Kris and Gina their final edited films. We know that they will enjoy them throughout their lives, and their feedback keeps us motivated to give our very best to each and every wedding that we are honored to work on.

The other professionals who helped make this wedding a success (we’ll leave the photographer off the list, obviously) are:

Meg & Joe

We are always touched by love stories, but especially by those (like this one) where faith in Christ is truly at the center of how it began and is reflected in the wedding day. We share that same kind of faith, and have seen the benefit of it to our own marriage (September will be our 21st Anniversary).

We so believe in the power of film. It goes beyond the aesthetic beauty in the details of the day. Film holds the power to immerse the viewer in a moment (personally experienced, or not). Often, our couples are not completely experiencing their wedding day as it is happening. Being (necessarily) the center of attention, it is too much to take it all in, and there are moments when nerves often drown out some of what is happening around them, or what is being said to them. We know that Meg & Joe will be able to go back to their day at least once a year and hear again the powerful message that was given by their pastor. If they feel off center one year when they sit down to watch – this message has the ability to realign them to their marital  “plumb line”. I am sure that most of our couples don’t even realize how huge that aspect of their film will be for them decades down the road.

Meg and Joe, it was a pleasure making this film for you, and we wish you two many joyful blessings as you travel the rest of your journey in life together!

The other professionals who helped to make Meg & Joe’s wedding day vision a reality were:

  • DJ: Nuimage (Rick Bettencourt) Really enjoyed working with this specific DJ from Nuimage! Request him personally if you are looking for a DJ; he was great!
  • Cake: Joe’s MOM!!!! Can you believe that? We were SO IMPRESSED!!!

Joe + Emily

Joe and Emily chose to get our short feature, which is about twice as long as a highlights. It gives you more time to experience the best parts of their wedding day. We love it when couples really take the time to find unique ways to breathe their tastes, personalities and talents into their day; because as we know – every couple is wonderfully unique. Cutting the cake with a fireman’s axe, the photo garland and those cardboard cut-outs all added elements of who they are together and separately. All of these little elements along with great toasts that tell more about the two of them help the two families get to know each of them better.  It all comes together to help us tell their story. We feel honored when families allow us into their world on such a special day to do just that.

The other professionals who brought this day together:

Photographer: Steve Gilbert

Caterer/Reception location: The Warren Center

Florist: Debra’s Flowers

Band: Men in Black

Cake: Gerardo’s Italian Bakery

Limo: AA Limosine Service

Jewelery: Zales

Ceremony location: St. John the Evangelist Church

Tyler + Christina

Two incredibly sweet people, Christina and Tyler, finally made it to their wedding day. Surrounded by their supportive family and friends everything that they planned so long for finally fell into place. It was another “reunion wedding” for us as we had filmed her sister’s wedding a couple of years before. I remember being at her sister’s wedding on New Years Eve, seeing them dancing together…looking forward to their own day. Sweet memories! Tyler wrote a song for Christina and before she put on her dress, it was the gift that she opened. Wow! A man who is good at expressing his heart is a precious thing, indeed! We don’t need to tell Christina to hold onto him, we’re confident she will. We had such a great time with them that day, and telling their story. Now, we’ll just keep an eye on facebook for baby announcements. Don’t mean to rush you guys – we just LOVE babies…plus how cute would those babies be?! Keep us posted!

As always here is a list of the venues & professionals that played a part in making this day a success:

Beth + Kenny’s Stage Neck Inn Wedding

It’s hard to believe in all the time we’ve been filming weddings, that Beth and Kenny’s wedding was our first time at the Stage Neck Inn. If you’re looking for a picturesque Maine seacoast kind of wedding, this is an incredible choice. We loved getting to know Beth and Kenny and the love they have for their friends ,family and each other. We’re thrilled they get to relive their day and take in how much they are valued in the lives of the loved ones that surrounded and supported them.

One piece of feedback we get from our couples pretty consistently is that they are amazed at how much of their day they are seeing for the first time when they watch their film. They are seeing things from their guests’ perspective. They are also seeing reactions they missed from their guests because of where their head was at throughout the day. They are getting to hear the sounds of the day all over (nerves, vows, speeches, cheers) but in a way that they can fully take it all in and appreciate it. We know that those who opt to not have their wedding filmed (and there are still far too many of them), are not even thinking of these things. Why would they if the last wedding video they saw was something that looks like Uncle Charlie probably put together (no offense to Uncle Charlie…we know you did your best). It’s pretty easy to understand why one of the biggest regrets (usually THE biggest regret) when the day is done is that there IS  NO VIDEO. With all the time, effort, money, emotions, memories and faces gathered into one day – the costs far outweigh any savings a couple might feel momentarily that they have spared themselves. Many are surprised to hear that a good portion of our clients were NOT going to budget for a wedding film…until they saw one of our clips (through the fb feed, a bridal show, a recommendation from one of our former couples, from a photographer who loves working with us,  or an online search). So, if you are stalking our work (and we know that some of you do – thank you – we feel the love), then we would so appreciate it if you share our clips with someone you know who is getting married. More, so that they will not end up with regrets after their special day, than for them to end up choosing us to tell their story.

Here are the other professionals that we worked with that day to make Beth + Kenny’s day a reality:

Photographer: Once Like A Spark

Hair + Makeup: York Shears

Florist: F As In Flowers

DJ: DJ Chris Renn

Cake: Let Them Eat Cake

Marissa + Tim’s Harrington Farm Wedding

When we met Marissa and her parents for the first time, there was so much warmth & laughter;  we felt like we already knew them. We parted knowing their wedding day would be filled with lots of that same joy. Tim and Marissa’s wedding was definitely a bright spot on our calendar for several reasons. It gave us the opportunity to work with one of our favorite photographers, Katie Hall Photography at the gorgeous Harrington Farm. Harrington Farm is an idyllic backdrop for a wedding story, and we were able to take advantage of several of the locales for  creative shots that they have right on the property. Their joy was contagious throughout the day up to the “Hitch” inspired dance at the end of the night. We are thrilled they get to revisit that joy throughout their life together.

Jess + Jon

Willowdale Estate was the background to this lovely wedding day; this place is really enchanting and the staff is first rate. If you’ve been stalking our work (and we know some of you do), you have seen it in several of the highlights clips here on our blog. We love working there, and apparently they love having us there because they keep recommending us. Hiring us was Jess’ Mom’s idea. I’m not sure how much of a priority having a video was to Jess & Jon themselves (before the wedding). I have a feeling, though, that being on the other side of their wedding day, they are glad that we were there. Their day was really “them”. Everyone around them was elated, proud  & content in this step they were taking. Thanks for having us be part of your day, Jess and Jon. Many blessings to you both!

Ron + Alison

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain

I love this quote. I had not heard this before Alison’s mother shared it with us in her toast to the two of them. It is so fitting a quote for these two who  definitely live by the latter part of that sentiment. We sat down to some nachos and beer with Ron and Alison to talk about their big day.  It was a nice opportunity for us to get to know them and what their personalities and tastes are. It’s the wedding day itself, though, that says the most about who the two people getting married are . Family, and close friends are a big part of who we all are. Their words on a wedding day say a lot about our character and values.  But watching how the couple interacts with each other goes a long way in telling what they are like individually. We really get to know our couples from putting together their wedding day story, and we so enjoyed the whole experience start to finish with Ron and Alison. This is a man who will never regret waiting for the right woman to come into his life. We couldn’t be happier for the two of them!

A big thank you to Sarah and all of the awesome staff at French’s Point for making this day all that it was. They took the elements that Ron and Alison dreamed up and created, and made them a reality. They even made sure we stayed hydrated; gotta love that!

Mikey + Anna – The Miracle of True Love

While filming Mikey and Anna’s big day, we felt the energy and the excitement from all sides. Their family and friends obviously love them tremendously and were so thrilled to see this marriage take place. Having these crucial people in one place like this is pretty much a one-shot deal. Anna & Mikey we are so glad that we had your date available (a mini-miracle) since you contacted us a mere month before. We so enjoyed putting this together for the two of you. We hope you feel that energy all over again as you relive this snippet of your day.
